Description

Found this little critter on a recent trip with my grandson to the Kansas City Zoo. He is known as a "Blue Dart Frog". They live in the tropics of Central and South America. The Dart Frog gets its' name from the fact that natives have used their poisonous toxins on the tips of their arrows and blow darts for hundreds of years. Their brilliant color warns potential predators to leave them alone or suffer the consequences. Thanks for looking. Please open this up to a full-sized view. Bill

I've heard of them but never actually seen one until now. What an intriguing creature. Thank you for posting it.

Wonderful capture! He looks innocent enough. I found a green Pacific Treefrog in our pond the other day. He hasn't come out again so I can get his picture, though. Maybe he's camera-shy. I have heard of this variety of frog, but never saw one of the little critters before. Interesting image!

Neat shot, and great colors here. Very informative to see this is the frog that the poison darts originate from.
