Description
The small village church of St Mary's give the village its original name Cerneminster, as recorded in 1223. A mosaic pavement has been unearthed in the village dating from Roman times. The arches of St Mary's church are Norman, dating from the 12th century, whilst the bell tower is 15th century. The river Cerne flows under the church.
