I am curious to know if he could play a tune while forging the red hot metal sending sparks like in a fireworks. Well captured.

His outfit is really interesting. Very different from what I've seen here. Great shot. Looks like a fun event.

interesting shot !

The smith looks like he knows what he's doing. And in costume down to barely-there shoes and leather apron. The anvil embedded in the stu,p is most authentic, the base of the stump a tad dicey. Most effective for a festival.

a great capture of a unique place & moment. I guess festivals will bring out the best in everyone: You don't see scenes like this anymore. (In Chicago, you don't even see the word "blacksmith". It's an anachronism.) Nice angles, and nice captures of the whites and darks. A nice moment too. Your photos are always a joy & discovery, rozie. And there's always a touch of humor underneath. Wonderful capture. Hope catalunya is moving towards cool weather!

I haven't seen the word blacksmith in a long time too. Interesting capture. Aloha

He reminds me of the smiths I've seen at "Pioneer" reenactments we have here. They are fascinating to watch. Great catch!

Another well captured moment, Rozanne. I was just talking about blacksmiths last week, when I was trying to source a piece of ironmongery. I used to stop and talk with two old blacksmiths in their ramshackle, dingy, poorly lit old smithy, in Carluke in the mid 1970s. They were in their seventies, and apart from wearing old, sweat stained flat caps and threadbare cloth waistcoats, wore much what this medieval version wears here. The headwear looks quite authentic, if I remember my old Luttrel manuscript. My twin wore a similar leather apron, when we were about 13 years old. He helped my mother's cousin shear some sheep. I got the harder job, of catching the wayward animals. When years later, as a country policeman, I had to monitor sheep dipping on local farms, I felt quite at home! Warm regards, John.
