Description
The little girl across the street, Mia always comes over and ask if we can go see the white ducks lol, so I took this one a few nights ago when I took her to feed them.

I only knew people who raised chickens and later would go motorcycle riding near the Willow Springs, California turkey farm. All of thse birds were white but not ducks. When I went to Florida I saw many egrets which were also white. This looks to me like a wild Mallard duck which I recognize mostly from my uncle Gene's decoys. He knew the people who made them and the white ones were the unpainted ones. To get that feathery look on this one you might need to spray the decoy with flock which would give it a velvet texture. The flock was alos used on car dashboards and rear package shelves though fake rabbit fur was a bit more sumptuous. That nice sheen would really be covetted but most decoys had a dull almost camouflage look and worked just fine avoiding the myth of face valid simulation.

Oh his colors are awesome Lynell! Beautiful capture, mallards were my mothers favorite ducks, her ashes were scattered in the mountains near a small lake where she spent time feeding them:-) Nice of you to take the little girl to feed them!
