Description

This is the first full scene that I created in Cararra 3. I did a whole lot of experimenting with Carrara before that and just built simple objects. Prior to this I was creating scenes in TrueSpace. Eventually I will be downloading some of my scenes done in TrueSpace 4 and Poser. The bed was particulary fun to model and that was modeled entirely in Cararra. But the lamp was a challenge because I did not know how to create the frilled lampshade. I eventually created it in Illustrator using a star shape and imported the shape into Cararra's spline modeler. I modeled the lampshade in Cararra, but I then modeled the rest of the lamp in TrueSpace and then imported the finished model back into Cararra. I added the wood floor and the star background to give it a kind of sleepy and restful atmosphere albeit unusual. People usually sleep in bed in the comfort of their homes. Here the bed is on a wooden floor out in the open -- a kind of paradox or conflict. Although I wonder, if given the chance, how many people would actually like to sleep out under the stars in their own bed with a lamp beside them, for reading or whatever? The textures I created myself for the bedhead, posts, and bed foot. Likewise for the floor and the bed spread. I made it from a photograph of wood down in my basement.

Very cool modeling, and texture work. I like how the stars give it a surreal feel, reminds me of Monty Python. Great way to start off your gallery. Welcome to R'sity btw.
