Description

An 18th century ship at anchor near an unknown shore on a misty morning. At least that was the intent. I do like how this render came out, although the more I look at it the more details I find that I should probably change. I was thinking of something along the lines of Cook's ship Resolution at anchor off some Polynesian island, although that ship was a modified collier and is much smaller than what I have here. It is hard to find interesting sailing ship models which are not pirate ships (I blame Johnny Depp). In this case I have used HMS Victory, the 100-gun ship-of-the-line which Nelson used to break the French line at Trafalgar in 1805 (literally, he crashed into one of the French ships). Some of the rigging didn't render right, for some reason, and I had to add it in by hand. Not much, but if something seems off blame me not the model makers - this is a very detailed model, although admittedly it's hard to tell in the near silhouette I have here. I should have added someone on board, in the rigging or whatnot. Hmm, the more I look at this the more details like that I think I should change so, I clearly should just post it and stop worrying about it. This render was made in Bryce 6.1 with the Victory set-up and then imported in from DAZ Studio 2.2. The HMS Victory model was created by DAZ 3D. All of these things are available on their website at daz3d.com.

Jedswell does some really good ship models,I tend to render in D/studio then switch off main model add some more models render again save render cut and paste 2/3 layers saves render time.keep up the great work.
