Description

Two rather delightful buildings, the 18th Century 'Ye Olde Boars Head' pub, and the early 20th century Central Cinema / Lyons Tea Rooms were demolished to make room for THIS. I'm not sure why Reading needs such a huge hotel complex as virtually everything that could have drawn tourists here has been covered in bland concrete offices which mostly stand empty. I would imagine that the only time this place ever approaches being full would be during the festival - and that only lasts for three days. Oh well, welcome to the future. ------------------------------- Original Photograph 1-Sep-2008
