This is quite touching. There's something almost monastic about the composition and the mood. Of course we can see the obvious tinge of regret that would mark any life interrupted by time in a penitentiary, but something in the sensitivity of your own artistic eye speaks more of a life of monasticism. It's no coincidence that reforming criminals and monks both spend their lives in cells...albeit for different reasons. I'm struck by that similarity here, and with it comes the idea that perhaps, in some way, prisoners and the non-incarcerated alike, have similar obligations. The profound nature of your work brings all of this to mind.
