Description
The Desert Dome at the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha is the world's largest indoor desert at around 42,000 sq. ft. It features desert scenes and animals from five continents. The dome is 137 feet tall and 230 feet in diameter. Its 1760 acrylic windows make it the world's largest glazed geodesic dome. It cost 31.5 million dollars and opened in 2002. (info from Wiki). I posted about a dozen images from this zoo earlier, with more on my own website not posted here. One snakes though a very well designed maze of habitats cleverly isolated by the rock and sand features and is a striking feature at the zoo that was even showcased on a tv series about zoos around the country several years ago.
