Description
I was passing Randall Airport in Middletown, NY, and saw a glider coming in for a landing. Much to my surprise, the glider landed on the grass instead of the runway. Enjoy!

Very nice capture. Perhaps its the nature of the type of landing gear they have on it? Most gliders I have seen drag in - concrete is not very kind to the body of the glider.

its a sailplane and they dont have wheels, so no landing on hard underground...else you would have costly repair... I only know because my father did fly a sailplane, when I was a kid...

Mermaid is right on the money. They just have a skid on the bottom. And they land at an unbelievably slow stall speed...so, grass is best. Bill
