Are thoughts really things? Maybe they are and maybe they are not. Hmmm. What a wonderful question to ponder. We look at things in our life experience and we label them. How is this done? Some of the labels we choose are "good," "nice," "not so good," or "must stay away." How do we arrive at these labels? We create our labels based upon our feelings... the feelings that we receive from our thoughts. These thoughts influence how we perceive our world. So today... just for today... let us try a little experiment. Let us look at the some phrases and ponder them. "Thought backed by emotion gives form." "That which we dwell upon expands." "Before you think another thought, listen to what you are saying." What kind of statements are these? They may be strange perhaps but they can actually have a basis in reality. When we have strong emotions about something, our thoughts well up slowly inside of us and we begin to have feelings that are then translated into action. So thought backed by emotion can give form. Have you ever tried to ignore something that is coming your way but you keep thinking about it? The more we think about a certain thing, the more it seems shows up in your life experience. That which we dwell upon expands can then be quite on target. Frequently our conversations are reactive. We think about something and respond to the thought with another instant thought. But all the while we are not really in the listening mode. Today is the day for us to practice our active listening skills. We shall practice listening to our Self conversation. Once we start to practice, we just might be amazed by the things that we say when we aren't actively listening to ourselves. During this exercise when we hear a negative thought, we will say to ourselves silently "cancel, cancel... that is not the truth of who I am." This is an experiment in active listening skills... listening to our own thoughts. The more we practice our active listening skills, the more we will notice that we are becoming kinder and gentler to ourselves. There is an added bonus to all of this practice. We will also have more abundance come into our lives because we dare to unthink our not so positive thoughts. Now that is definitely something worth doing. How divine. How simply divine.
Our thought for the day is: 'I dwell upon the good in my life and the good I can do for others.' Gayle O
May your day be filled with joy and may your life be all that you desire.
