Here is me and my darling at the fair in Sacramento on her second day of her visit to me. there was a lot of cool things to see, and animals we could pet. also a lot of exhibits, vendors and people every where :-) We were signing some posters for our troops in the far east. Back in the mid-70s, When I moved out here to Sacramento the first time or second time...I did some mental health counselling work at a group home. The owner of the group home was in charge of several shows in the barn area. He set up the pigeons show and the official barn BBQ near the end of the fair run. He also was responsible for putting together the petting zoo. For two years, he was unable to run all three so he handed the petting zoo to me. I had a ball running it. My two younger kids were very young and they and I dressed in turn of the century pioneer costumes and watched over the visitors with the animals. We even had a tortoise lay her eggs there. Now, the petting zoo is all commercial and not at all like the farm atmosphere we had. Still, the fair is a great place to go. And doesn't it always hit high temps in the near-100s? Great shots here. They show home diverse the fair really is.
