Description

This is for Daz|Studio users: I have seen many good renders in the galleries that could easily be great renders if depth of field (DOF) had been used. "In optics, particularly as it relates to film and photography, the depth of field (DOF) is the portion of a scene that appears sharp in the image." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Depth_of_Field The first pic I have rendered without any DOF- everything is in sharp focus and nothing really stands out. In the second pic, the focus is shifted to the character, and everything else is blurred: the pic becomes much more interesting as there is now a focal point. In the third, the focus is on the pistol (foreground) and the rest is blurry. This is by far the more interesting picture as the irrelevant details are blurred out. In Daz|Studio I use the DOF Control script by Guandalug la'Fay available at http://www.nightstone.com/~guandalug/DAZFreebies/scripts.php It is really easy install and use, and takes renders to a whole new level. BTW, I am using it on my Mac. Please note: the pics above are a bit dithery/grainy, but that can be overcome by increasing the amount of raytracing and sampling. If you want to see samples of what DOF Control can do, check the recent DS images in my gallery. I hope you find this helpful and that it takes Daz/Studio and its (yours, too) rendering to a whole new level. Please would you let me know if this was of use to you? Thanks! A similar thing I am hoping will be in future releases of DS is motion blur. Perhaps there is a script out there that somebody knows of?
