Description

I really aught to title this: Chilled Whine - lol after trying to stress to my client that there are 3 times as many grapes as originally expected and that paint was over the budget, we came to an agreement he'd pay for half the paint and I'd make him this sign... Beggers can't be choosey... The extra money was to cover some bills that needed to get paid... so basically what you're looking at here I did for free. All hand cut, all hand lettered. Come on in looks stenciled, but it wasn't. The client wanted a patriotic sign for his cooler area. As I was painting the mural, I only seen one person go in the cooler the whole time. The client is a veteran who served time in the Army, so the American flag and red, white and blue was what he wanted... the green and the come on in represents his Army background... the frost on the lettering was my idea. The banner was his idea but the style of the flag was mine. again I had to reduce the quality in this picture down so much it began to distort on me... I haven't noticed that problem of reducing with poser, but photos seem to hate to rescale the way I do it. anyway, this is the end of the project at the liqour store... those of you wondering if I got anything to drink out of it, thats another story... In short, Aug 31st was my Wife and I's five year anniversary. My Wife is not a drinker and in that 5 years I've never seen or known of her to drink... she wanted some champagne with low alcohol... my client gave me the bottle of cuvee 20 as he went to take off the price tag I told him to leave it (it said $30.00). When I picked up the bottle at the end of the night, the price tag now said: $89.99... I didn't see any harm in leaving it on and letting my Wife feel these clients were treating us good... Later, my Wife looked it up on the net...$22.00 is what that Bottle goes for... I walked away from the job complete and happy I finished the job, However, I can't help but wonder how much nicer it would of looked if the client appreciated the effort I was giving... I don't want to feel this way, but I can't help but feel cheated on the mural-sign experience. Chalk one up on inexperience on my part. Those of you wondering if the Bondage series ended, I still haven't spent the time to do the next upload. It's still stuck on "J". I do love the series and hope you do to, but with the Halloween contest up and running, you know where my efforts are going... I just love that contest - I don't know why, I feel like a kid all over again - lol

Hey6 Mike sorry Ive been tied up lately. I hope the client appreciated the extra work- you don't half pick them (clients not grapes). Anyway, nice sign and glad all turned out well. Dave

If you have paint shop pro, or photo shop, you'll get better reductions and enlargements. If you don't have either of those programs, then go and download the free Gimp at gimp.org. Works wonderously, has lots of plugins, which are also free. You can't beat that price! Awesome sign!! Well crafted. I think you'll have a better feel after this as to what you need to charge, and also figuring out ahead of time just what it will take to accomplish a mural, thus giving you a way better knowledge of what you need to charge.

Just a bit of advice; if you post something on the internet, make sure you are cool with the content being archived and searchable. SO- if you post something about a client of yours that displeased you- make sure they dont have any power, etc... Anyway, we all get screwed on side jobs or jobs in particular- don't dwell on it or let it affect ya- move on to the next gig. Otherwise you spend so many hours obsessing over the non payment of xx dollar while an opportunity that is xxxxxx dollars arrives. Just my 2 cents in the world of reality, try to ignore Rendo as its just a fantasy, all these weirdo's and their "Excellent work" comments... Bunch of sheep they are.
