Parc LaSalle, Lachine son histoire...
Surnommé La petite Chine (plus tard Lachine) en raison des ambitions du Sieur de La Salle d'atteindre la Chine par l'ouest. Robert Cavalier de la Salle obtint des Sulpiciens, qui étaient seigneurs de Ville-Marie, ce domaine. «Cet arrière-fief (...) recut par dérision le nom de "la petite Chine"» pour s'appeler ensuite Lachine» Lachine a été la première ville de Montréal. La ville de Lachine est la première ville reliée par train avec Montréal.
La Région du Pôle-des-Rapides tient sa résonance historique directement des remous des fabuleux rapides de Lachine.
Ils ont forcé explorateurs, colons, commerçants et industriels à s'établir et à développer le secteur. Par l'activité récréotouristique et culturelle, le fleuve, les rapides
et le Canal de Lachine renaissent.
Des premières maisons de fermes aux anciens postes de traite, en passant par un décor industriel unique, la région porte partout
les traces de son histoire. Des événements originaux et l'omniprésence de nombreux artistes et artisans complètent ce vaste paysage culturel.
