Description

As requested by Andrea, taken this morning and it wasn't raining ( 3days in a row ) a new british record!! A really mixed up collection in here, the Acers are turning colour, yet my dwarf azalea is flowering again? I have the biggest trees outside on benches, the 2 people trees. I cannot move these without help they are so heavy in their pots. I have had a minor crisis, the bonsai Wisteria I posted some months ago has almost died. I found it suddenly dropped all it's leaves and found the dreaded vine weevil grubs in the pot. I have cleaned it up and put it into a high sand growing bed to try and encourage new roots. It is worth a go, it may pick up in a couple of years. A moment in bonsai terms! I also bought some of the biological control ( nematodes )to water into my other trees as a precaution.

What a marvellous sight! I like the height of the bench to give you the perfect view of your 'creations', or should I say 'charges', as they will outlive us all! Horrific happening to the wisteria, vine weevil are one of those creatures whose purpose in the great scheme of things completely eludes me. BYW I managed to keep the red lily beetles off my oriental lilies this year by putting them on a high bench! Not one to be seen on those, but several on the ones in the ground. Thnkyou for this glimpse into your world, Kevin!!

I can see you are brilliant with these little trees. I have managed to kill a forest of them in the past 20 years. I stopped growing them (killing them too) about 8 years ago but my grandson bought me one - a magnolia - that I still have growing. I'm sure it will not last through winter. I just keep cutting off the roots that come out the bottom of the tiny pot its in and water it. I just love your greenhouse.

A gorgeous scene and beautiful little specimans. I have a black thumb with bonsais, so I just snap their picture, tell them how pretty they are and move on. ;o) Bunny

Well! what a wonderful display. I'm not surprised you need so much space for this superb collection. Thankyou for showing us. We found a vine weevil in our bedroom this morning, which means it has been laying it's flipping eggs in my house plants, so I'll have to check them all. When I was young I thought vine weevils were beautiful with their little snouts and would set them free - what an idiot...
