The Tattoo shop asked me for a nasty skull.... heh, go figure! So I modelled this up in Lightwave tonight and touched it up in Zbrush. Thought I would share.... Jet jet3d.com.au

Wicked! Absolutely perfect... right down to the yellowing bone. After seeing all these images for a tattoo shop, I can't help but ask myself why some artists working in a 2D medium would want 3D renders done for some really complicated and fancy stuff.

G'Day mate! Well the idea is that some clients want their tattoos to look 3d - that is, they want it to look risen off the skin. So, I model it in 3D which provides the design and also the reference material for the correct shading. Not only that, an artist can spend a couple of hours sketching out a design like this and he has produced one piece.... as you can appreciate - once modelled in 3d - you can render it from many angles thus producing many pieces of tattoo art. Not just the angles, but the lighting and the models very shape can also be modified... Hope this explains the why. Oh, and Moebius87 - thanks for your input and time. Always great to hear from you. 8 )) Jet
