An artifact of a consumer society. Not a fundamental stepping stone of the automobile industry but a significant shift to post war production. In today's world referred to as a tradeable car. Just the work to make that ring around the eight ball bullet in the grille round again would discourage a novice. for the professional tin smith the seam in the fender to the hood are from the headlight hole says something about how a stamping was made anout 58 years ago and what sort of iron or steel was created from the ores mined then.

Great photo...don't know if you could do it, but I'd like to see it cropped tighter to minimize the sky and buildings. Maybe you have some other shots taken from different angles? Anyway, it brings back a lot of memories. Thanks for posting it...

Yup, a 1949 Ford. I had a 1950 Ford...the rusted out parking lights are the key to recognizing this old classic. Great shot. Bill
