Description

I'm trying to learn Bryce again after trying and giving up a few years ago. This is the first render I have done that I felt was worth letting anyone else see. Nothing special, but I like it. The terrain was randomly generated and tweaked a little by me. The sky, terrain texture and water material are standard Bryce 6.1 items, and the ship is a freebie from jedswindells here at Renderosity.

Very nice. I love the way the light is hitting against the rock.

Pretty good for a first submission. It's alot better than my first submission. Try putting some foilage on the terrain and see if it looks more natural, other than that, I like it.

Nice P.O.V. "point of view"... It looks like the ship has been there for a while... a nice full moon would have added.... Maybe a campfire in the distance would have told us the fate of the sailors... good work...

I like the lighting you have chosen here. And the almost calm look to the water is a great contrast to the rocky terrain. Creative use of jedswindell's model, too.

An excellent render. Lighting and terrains are especially nice. Welcome to the gallery and don't let any comments dissuade you from pursuing Bryce more. Well done.

Your first uploaded Bryce scene eh? I'm a fan of landscapes and whatever anyone else says, there can never be too many of them. You have said that you wish for critical and no critical comments so here goes. Non critical: I like the way the mountain dips into the middle bringing the viewers eye back to the wreck in the middle. Critical: The waves give away the lack of distance from the foreground to the mountains, so maybe a denser wave formation. A tip here is to 'zoom' into the scene before rendering and then backing the camera back out to the original position. This will give a more 'wide angle' effect and make the scene more dramatic. I think this scene shows that you have a lot of potential artistically; and i'm sure you'll surprise us all with each upload. I won't give a rating on this first one, as it's not fair to do so.

I like your terrain work on this, and the lighting is subtle. I think the waves on the water don't fit in with a believable scale for the scene. It would be nice to have some foliage on the shore line and maybe a beach aswell. There are some good suggestions in the comments here, it would be nice to see you evolve this piece. Keep coming back to the forum to post wip's, learning just from the books is great but I learnt most by visiting the forum and asking questions. You've clearly got the passion so keep on going!!!

Thanks for the comments. I'm trying to incorporate some of the suggestions, but being new, I seem to get stuck alot and can't seem to get it to look right.
