Description

Nikon 7900 pocket camera, hand-held image. Here is a Gulf Fritillary Butterfly just moments after it emerged from the Chrysalis which I showed yesterday. It appears as if this one had not yet figured out how to deal with the long double proboscis. There is definitely a lot of 'tongue' sticking out, lol. Tomorrows image will show the result of a little experience with it. Thanks to those who take the time to comment. Lee

Is that nose on all these fritillaries? I have a butterfly that has this nose also. Great detail and as a "newborn" it has great color.

I would love to get that eye and tongue under my macro lens Lee, that proboscis looks more like a spring coil than anything elese. I agree with PJ it is very colourful. Excellent capture, superb clarity and detail. Bravo!!!!!
