Description

I have always been fascinated with helicopters. While working as a police officer I had several occasions to work with medical helicopters at major traffic accident scenes. It was always very sad to have to call them to a scene, but I knew that the crew on those helicopters were the absolute best at emergency medical care. My prayers would always go with them and their patients as they lifted off for the hospital. With all the praying I did for people, it is a wonder that I got any work done. Luckily I learned to pray and work at the same time. :-) I have lost two people that were fairly close to me in freak fatal traffic accidents this year. It was while returning from surveying the area of one of these accidents when I noticed the Life Flight helicopter at a local hospital. I had my camera with me and decided to take a few shots to satisfy my love for helicopters. I was quickly reminded that as I marveled at the beauty of this machine, someone's life and the lives of their family and friends had changed forever. I heard the cries of a terrified woman as she walked with a friend from the emergency room entrance to their car. I quickly returned to my car so as not to disturb them. Moments later an emergency crew loaded a patient onto the helicopter and lifted off to transport him or her to a larger, better equipped hospital. The people also left in what I assume was a hurried pace to get to the hospital that their loved one was being transported to. It never fails to amaze me how fleeting and fragile life is, how in a fraction of a second life can change or be taken away; how the most beautiful and magnificent day can change to the worst day in a families life. It equally amazes me at the strength of the human spirit, and what people can endure and still continue on with their lives. Scenes like this are a somber reminder for all of us to slow down, take it easy and spend time with those that we care for. I care for all of my good friends here at Renderosity. I think of you often and pray for your safety, good health and long life. -Breyden-

A superb shot and information provided. The teams certainly do a brilliant job saving lives but as you say, sadly sometimes life is cruel. I am sorry to hear of your two personal tragedies this year.
