Description
The abbey was founded in 1231 by Peter des Roches, bishop of Winchester, and belonged to the Premonstratensian order.

It appears to have had window glass at some point probably during a rebuilding or expansion. Looking back before doing the archaeology somethings don't immediately fix on such an early date. No Norman arch? A abbey that survived the reign of Henry the Eighth?
