Description

"I couldn't tell ya exactly where it was now- I'd been chasing some incredible thermals all afternoon- down in a stretch of Mexico I first visited in my army days. Sometimes, when everything's right there, you can fly- I mean, like you're never going to have to come down again, ya know? Anyway, I was just enjoying the ride- sorta lost track of where I was. I didn't recognize the terrain; it was getting really odd, with these incredibly deep gorges and canyons. I saw something, off to my right, so I took a chance and went lower to take a closer look. Up on this wide canyon ledge was some kind of ruins- like maybe an old estate or something. Just perched up there, all alone. Down in the canyon, a clean little river meandered around- and I saw it; looked like a big cave, or maybe a mine entrance. I wanted to dive down, but I needed to get some altitude- I didn't want to wind up down there permanently. I made it back to the landing strip late; almost crashed. When I came back to the states, I found out the Mexicans revoked my passport; I've never been able to get back there. As soon as I get the mess straightened out, I'm going back and find that place. I'll bet there's some secret down there- gold or...who knows? Ah, lousy government red tape..." From an unknown pilot's conversation in a bar, 1983. Bryce 5.5, Photshop, Mystic Lighting plugin. COOL! Looks like a secret place to me! I love it! The bridge is awesome, and the ruins may even be something ancient! Too cool, Paul.

This goes back to the quality I think your renders have more than most- and that is small and subtle details to keep the eye moving or mind thinking- in this, the sharp glint of light from the airplane is a great touch of realism, then the structures on the ground give a sense of scale to the canyon! Very nice!
