Description

This picture was taken 3 blocks from my home in Middletown, Ohio...as the wind howled that day, we were sitting on the front porch and could hear the trees breaking in half.... we watched as the shingles of our neighbors roof flew off... there was debris blowing all over the streets as the wind gusted up to 90 miles per hour. They say it was the tailend o Hurricane Ike... I've never seen anything like this in Middletown... it looks as if several twisters went through here... and even today, 6 days after the storm, much of Middletown looks like what you see in this image.

Interesting you bring up Ike ... here in Colorado this last week the air has been totally calm and warm - very odd. Two months ago, a LARGE tree snapped in half and crashed 60 away from my front door of my apartment... I was home and didn't even know it... don't know if I was in the shower or what, cause I haven't plugged in my stero since I've been here (a year)... don't watch tv except the Broncos... I was told the only thing you heard was the snap and it fell the the ground softly... You could of parked 6 ford trucks bumper to bump for the heighth of this tree... It just dawned on me... you posted a picture - far out! lol

The perils of being a tree.. glad I'm not a tree. Hi Marcy. Hope the worst is over now and your family are doing well. Not related.. but our phone voice service has been down for over a week. We didn't even notice because we seldom use the phone. Strange it didn't affect the DSL. Fixed now, got dial tone.. but lost the DSL as a result of the repair. Got DSL back yesterday, finally. Dumb Phone company. Anyway, hope all's well.. Excellent picture and impressive photo subject. Bravo and hugs from Dave :^)

What a horrible mess to have to clean up. A few years ago we had a bad ice storm here in NE Pennsylvania. Outside, all you could here were the snapping of trees and large branches coming down all over. Living in quite a wooded area, you had to be mindful of what was going on above your head at the time.

Wow The winds had to be high to snap that tree in half.... The clean up afterwards is a mess tho isn't it.. So glad you were safe... Excellent capture Hugs Your Ky sis Susan~
