Description

UF and PSP Hello ALL! I am back...exhausted, but back. What an experience this has been. Our coastline is absolutely demolished, thousands have lost everything; thousands, though they still have their homes, are without power, have suffered major damage to their homes, now running out of food and it's getting hot again. We were all blessed with most unusual weather after a hurricane. Usually, it's unbearably hot and humid but all of last week was the most pleasant weather I think we've had all year...with no air conditioning and cooking outside for most of us, it was delightful...if one can be delighted under the circumstances :-) We were without power more than 6 days. Spending most of the days, cleaning up the yard, cleaning out the refrigerator and freezer, cooking (more than I normally do LOL!) for ourselves and an elderly neighbor and her grown son, washing dishes by candlelight, running out of clean bumming-around clothes, playing 20 questions in the dark...by Friday the thrill was gone and I was really getting tired of the whole thing. The power came on at 4:15 in the afternoon...MAN, I love electricity! My neighbors across the street still don't have power. I had 4 or 5 bags of ice to give away and could not find anyone home to give it to! I hated that. Last night I got a call that the power at my Salon was finally back, so Monday will be spent trying to get the tangle of wires under the reception desk straightened out and all the electronics (computer, printer, phones, etc.) back into their respective places and start calling clients. Life as we knew it two weeks ago. I could probably bore you all day with stories, but I think you get the picture. I want to say thank you SO much for your comments, prayers and concern, and a big thank you to my sister-in-law, Martha, for keeping you informed for me. She was a Godsend in more ways than one...bringing ice and food and water. LOVE her! I missed you all more than you know and hope YOU are all well and happy.

I find it very moving that you can already find beauty in such a painful event.

LOL, Maddy, Ike should have at least looked as good as your rendering of it! I think this really conveys the chaos yet still maintains it's own beauty as a fractal spiral. I am SO glad you guys made through safely and relatively unharmed! I hope your beauty salon didn't sustain any damage either! Welcome back kiddo!!
