Description

Nikon 7900 pocket camera, hand-held image. Here is a short collage demonstrating the basic clues which showed me the way to get a shot of this Goatweed Butterfly caterpillar. 1. I noticed the caterpillar droppings (frass) which were laying on a leaf. 2. I looked above the droppings and saw the rolled up leaf (this species use silk to roll up the leaves and use them as shelter) with a few droppings hanging from the small bottom opening. 3. I looked inside and saw the head of the caterpillar. 4. The young caterpillar makes his appearance (after a bit of poking to get him out). So now you know how to look for Goatweed caterpillars, lol. Thanks to those who take the time to comment. Lee

You certainly have a love for bugs and you are so very patient with them. Wonderful series of shots and good information. BTW, how are you coming on your house?

A detective as well as a photographer and builder, like PJ, I have been wondering how the house is coming along? Excellent collage, it shows you dedication to getting the shot, they say patience is a virtue, one I used to have myself at one point. I seem to have lost most of it along the way. Superb work. Bravo!!!!!
