Description

Same place as yesterday's shot, in Queens Park at Heywood, I know where I will be spending some time next year. I need some practice capturing these fast flying little critters. It is true what Lee has said many times before; if you startle one of them, just stay still, and more often than not they will return to the same spot. This happened to me more than once during my time at the lake. This one was about two inches in body length, only half the size of yesterdays upload, but I thought the prettier out of the two. At least with this one being on the concrete at the side of the lake, I got a decent overhead shot. I might try there again sometime this week. Thanks for dropping by for a look and for any comments you care to make. Also a big thank you to those that have favoured any of my previous images. Sunshine hugs for all those that need them, and even those that don't.

Another great capture Jeff, I very rarely see them and it is usualy difficult to get close without startling them. I think I'll join you next time, two uploads two different Dragonflies, did you catch any others?

Aint that the way Jeff, you wait an eternity for that shot and two opportunities come along at once, maybe that's why they are red?, coming along in two's just like the London bus you wait an eternity, then two come along together lol...Great work mate!

The golden tint to the wings is really lovely. Good captures, both. I find that they aren't intimidated by the lens of my camera. I can slowly move it toward them and get within inches, however, apparently my face can scare them from 100 paces away! A revolting situation...

Great captures. It is a great experience when one manages to get a good shot of a Dragonfly. All those memories of failed attempts just fade away, lol. Thanks for sharing. BTW - the House project has been on hold because of funds and hot weather. That seems to have abated and I have hopes of returning to the project in a week or so. I have yard work to catch up on first. After some recent rains, the grass has grown faster than I have been able to cut it, lol. Thanks for sharing. Lee

Really gorgeous, dazzling dragonflies! I have a thing about dragonflies, and my daughter does as well. She is always trying to capture them digitally, and has several photos. I am trying to get her to post them in the photography gallery here. Lea
