Description

I went to the nursery the other day to see how creative I could get at a time of the year when there's little or nothing in bloom. I did manage to find a few flowers, but it was an excellent challenge to find non-blooming things to photograph. This tree really IS green and yellow. It's not just the light that makes certain sections appear to be yellow. It was amazing to see it! I got both direct light and backlit shots of this lovely specimen. As a matter of full disclosure, I should tell you that Marilyn liked the other one better. Ah well ... I imagine she won't quit speaking to me over it! LOL! The folks at the nursery are quite sanguine about people wandering around with cameras, so ... Sneak Factor = ZERO .......... Full view will be worth your while.

This really is astonshing. I have seen these 2-tone evergreens and they are pretty spectacular but with your pov and this lighting, it goes straight to stellar.

…. the “sheets” look like from a Thuja. Probably a “multicolored” sort. A very beautiful photo!!!! The light is uniquely “caught"

Ursula is right, definitely a Thuja (or Western Red Cedar). I planted one of these but i always felt the variagation made it look ill so......chop! The council have several mature onesin the upper Pleasure gardens so I can admire them there! None of this waffle detracts from the beauty of your pic, though!!

There is nothing more magical than Mother Nature, her variations are meausred in billions, or even googols(this is a googol; 10 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000) in case you didn't know. Silly I know but I just had to throw that one in. #;0) You know what I'm like. Superb capture, I have seen these sort of trees before, I thought it was just a freak of nature, obviously not. Excellent work. Bravo!!!!!

Wow, JeffG7BRJ really zeroed in on the zeros with his profound commentary. Couldn't he have just said "ten to the thousandth power" or something like that? Oh, and nice lighting in this composition in this capture of the Western Red Cedar.
