Description

I created the perfume bottle and oil lamp in Hexagon. The image emerged from these two items, while thinking about the things that make up memories - scents, sounds, sights...

Astounding image. Love every single detail. The way lighting interacts with elements is truely magical and is very well executed both technically and artistically speaking. Looks like an ideal place and time. But I have to reconsider the whole scene in terms of its meaning. Perhaps, the asymmetric position of the left side window is telling us that it´s just a matter of appearances; and that this place and this time are a metaphor of the universe we wish for ourselves.

very adept sunset and ocean. they're extremely realistic. the lamp light works well- not unrealistically overpowering, but a nice soft warm glow nonetheless. the shells look almost like they have a shadow problem similar to Poser nose glow, but the effect is similar to appropriate shell translucence. the petals' bright softness plays a perfect counterpoint to the dark stone top of the bureau. all the glass works well and looks interesting. i miss the caustics (just because i like them), but i'm not sure they'd be realistic in this scene. my first thought was that the bureau implied rock or sand beneath, but my second thought is that someone is adrift on the sea in a room of their belongings. either way, the composition is delightfully askew and surreal.
