**********ALERT************* The Senate has passed the Orphan Works Bill It is IMPERATIVE if you care about your works to do something now, before it's too late. Everyone should write to their congressmen at this hour, because there is a risk that the House will pass the Senate version of the bill, again without debate and without a vote, by adding it to a larger budget or bailout bill at the end of the current session, in the next few hours. The Orphan Works bill is being pushed by Google, which plans to catalog millions of images and doesn't want to deal with the rights of copyright holders. The bill will make it easy for anyone to reprint copyrighted work, without the permission of the copyright holder, and artists will find that it is difficult or impossible to control where their work is reprinted. It will be VERY interesting to see what happens to european, asian, african and australian artists. We all (in other words: the majority of artists worldwide) do not have to follow any american law - and I am very curious when the congress will realize that they a) decided something totally useless b) run into massive trouble c) already have enough problems and are not able to pay damages to artists all over the world. I am not even able to use this form as it is for US american citizens only. So I'll lean back and watch this government slip into another desaster! I am still in good believe that even these politicans will realize that they are only a (small) part of the world. Anyway: This image is beautiful - and so very yours that even the thought that someone else claims it to be his work is absurd!!

It annoys me no end--I've written to my congressweasels pointing out the same things Meike did, and all we get is lalalala can't hear you...what morons. But I love this--the feeling of floating, and glowing..and being one with the universe!

I sent my congressmen numerous emails on this subject.. though I have to admit that it is sad that I even have to :( This should be a no brainer.. of course anyone who does not deal with copyright issues would be ignorant at best on the actual scope of what this bill can do to all artists :(

Thanks for sharing this info with us. I had no idea that was in the works. I went to the site and put in my email to my representative. We'll keep our fingers crossed.
