Description
Captured 9/21/08, at the beautiful Palos Verdes Concours d'Elegance, held annually at the beautiful Trump National Golf Club on the beautiful Palos Verdes Peninsula in overpopulated Southern California.
So that's where I was last Sunday, rubbing elbows with the rich and not-so-famous, who enjoy showing off their classic and expensive conveyances to any and all who can afford to buy tickets to the event. I had to break my piggy bank to get in, but it was well worth it.
Despite the high cost of admission, there were thousands of visitors in attendance, seemingly each taking photos with anything that will record an image -- from cellphones to SLRs to video cameras -- the result being each of us getting into each other's way for the best POV. With them absolutely oblivious to your existence, nothing like someone walking in front of your lens at the very moment you click the shutter. Paparazziville! Unlike photographing flowers and peaceful ocean, sky and landscapes, this was not an easy shoot. Most popular auto shows aren't.
With a total of 365 pics, this starts a whole new series featuring glamorous runabouts. I spent the past week postworking, sorting, and retitling the photos, then depositing them into their proper folders, all separated by manufacturer. The autos depicted span an era from about 1899 to 2008.
Although scenic, this golf course was not ideal for an auto show. Lots of rolling peak and valley turf, with much of the grass in dire need of mowing. Hence, many of the vehicles were parked at a sloping angle.
With that said, these are well worth zooming in on.
Thankx for looking in, and have a good one.

Love seeing these old girls. Low with no running boards to inpsire even the loneliest of rodders to drop their high boys.

what a beauty!

I always wondered why the doors opened on the wrong side in these old cars; if they weren't closed properly the wind sheer (assuming they could get that kind of speed going) would tear them off the hinges. But they are pretty old beasts, certainly!

Awesome collage pics!

Oh I will look out for more of this event Harry. We don't realy see cool cars...auto mobils anymore except on a weekend if they dare to drive it out of the comfort of the heated garage. We have one show a year and so far I had to miss all( not fair). Glad you good with interesting pov so it will be promissing series and a first double capture is fabulous as always.

lovely! You should come up here, Harry, where many of these shows are called 'Show and Shine' and there's no admission fee!
