Description

Three fighters descend upon the desert metropolis of Dulan, the morning cargo traffic already filling the sky above the myriad of towers and industrial buildings as the intense light reflects off the smooth architecture. All items created in Bryce6.1,with the exception of the rows of free SkyTraffic from Stonemason. The three fighters are a revision of my moth-shaped ship model.I was inspired by Stonemason's Greeble blocks, and decided to create my own in the terrain editor and assemble my cityscape. All the towers are created out of primitives, and a concrete photo texture from cgtextures.com was used as the primary texture. The lights are modified presets, with additional spots added in Photoshop, along with engine flares, contrails and signature. I wanted a blown out effect similar to that used in the movie "Pitch Black",and so I used a bloom effect and contrast enhancement in Photoscape 3.1 to get that look. Thanks for viewing and all your comments on my last post...was glad to see so many liked my foray into figurative work!

Very creative architecture, Neil. POV is striking as are the texture mats for the basis of the city grids.

Cool! The buildings kind of have that neo Art Deco look to them. Well done!

"Pitch Black" - great film with some amazing set design. You've captured some of that here. And you have taken what could be a problematic POV (things looking too miniscule and toy-like) and still managed to create credible size and scale.
