Description

I have no idea what this flower is, but it's definitely not a delphinium! It's a lovely lavender/blue mix, and each spike of flowerets is about 6-8 inches tall, on top of a long stalk. A few of these were mixed into a bouquet I saw yesterday, and I particularly like the way each seperate floweret looked 'shy'! Each seems to be wearing a medieval hood, and the top of the hood is the most obvious feature, and the little 'faces' are all pointing down, and are therefore a little hard to get a good view of. I will be pleased to hear the name of these pretty flowers, and will then be able to research them for this area........ Many thanks for any comments and/or suggestions.

Try looking up Aconitum. It is described as an upright, compact spike of hooded flowers. If it is a lavender color it could be A.carmichaelii "Kelmscott." All parts of this plant are poisonous. Excellent shot and I loved the challenge... I have a Plant Guide I keep on my desk at work and although it has approximately 3000 plants identified, it is almost always useless to me as the photos never look like what I'm seeing. :-)

Good heavens, a gorgeous bouquet featuring such beautiful shades of blue and veined petals. Pardon the gross comparison, but similar to skin I've seen on extremely old people.
