My real NAME TIMOTHY STANDISH. i was born just months before the dawn of the Space age, so my love of science fiction should be no suprise. As I evolved I also found out about comic books, fantasy, and mystery stories. just recently I’ve added some of the paranomal/action/romance genre to my reading list. I’ve always been interested in art and at one time even managed a small art store. I currently work at FLORIDA TODAY as a graphic artist in the newsroom. and have worked for the Gannett Corperation for almost 17 years.

very nice. good feel and overall technique/proportions/etc.

i think it looks beautiful, but it looks to me as if the light is coming from a different direction on the mer than everything else (more from our right and lower). i love the colors, and i think the use of earth tones on a sea being is original and unexpected. i think the water looks great. the stream of birds is a nice addition to the composition. the clouds look a little solid, and more detail could soften them (if you wanted). overall, i think its a beautiful piece. it's oddly ethereal for something so full of rocks and earth tones.

Your right about the lighting cobaltdream, I can fix that as I move on. Good eye.

Fishboy and birdgirl meeting. Cobaltdream are right about the light, but love the meeting.

Very fine work!

I really like how you're handling the rocks. I was thinking that the mergirl should have a fishier coloring/texture. The sky is a bit stark. Maybe a fade from dark to light? I know you're just starting with this, and I'm looking forward to seeing the finished piece.

the top figure looks different from the rest of the painting, more photographic whereas the rest is more canvas-like. From a composition and finished potential point of view, i prefer the top half all by itself... more powerful me thinks.
