Description

"Founded as a monastery in 1128, the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh is The Queen's official residence in Scotland. Situated at the end of the Royal Mile, the Palace of Holyroodhouse is closely associated with Scotland's turbulent past, including Mary, Queen of Scots, who lived here between 1561 and 1567. Successive kings and queens have made the Palace of Holyroodhouse the premier royal residence in Scotland. Today, the Palace is the setting for State ceremonies and official entertaining." (above is from the net) The abbey remains are joined to the more recent palace.Other abbey buildings remain only as ground level foundations outside the church structure. We found the old abbey more facinating than the palace and its...strange portraits. The palace rooms of the various royals who were there for a while were interesting. The men in religious garb were happenstance. I only waited for their positions to be pleasing before pushing the shutter button.

There really is an ambiance here...I don't think this needs much said about it since it seems to say it all itself. The pov through the columns is great!

They look like orthodox priests, I'm wandering how the Holyroodhouse's ghosts took the priests' presence! Great Shot!
