Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Beautiful image...it reminds me of the stuff I used to look at as a kid...cross sections of the Earth, showing the layers of the planet. THIS image reminds me of that, and the color/black and white elements of it bring that point home even further. All in all, I think this is a fantastic image.

Fine shot for the previous geologist i was ! LOL ! For me it looks like also a piece of wood.

When you stutter and are yelling at the ocean with pebbles in your mouth this kind of thing happens. Writing it down can seem like bluffing when it comes to sound advice.

super work

Love the texture of the layers and layers of earth! Great work!

Excellent capture of the layering. Yes, they kinda look like they are unstable.

If you hadn't told Marilyn I would have thought it was a close up of a chopped tree trunk, now that I know what it is, I would be interested in scouting around the bottom of this bluff. I find rock strata very interesting, taking a slice like this and discovering what is trapped in each layer. Fossils, crystals, minerals, chipping bits off and taking them home to polish. Excellent capture and postwork. Bravo!!!!!

I remember living in Southern California and all the mud and rock slides along the coast. navigation during a downpour can be tricky. :-) You really highlighted the bulging and stress of the bluffs in this. Good job.

Lush rich colors, textures and a heck of a lot of stratification depicted in this shot of the contentious-looking bluff, Marilyn!
