Description
Came across this whilst out and about and couldn't resist taking a few shots, my second shot at HDR. The sky was cloned in because the original was just an overcast grey. The cottages are right on the border of the moors above Rochdale, fifty yards from here you are standing on open moorland. A bit of an eyesore, yet there is money to be had by recycling the materials, they have been like this for quite a nuber of years.

Jeff, this is one of those photos that give me mixed emotions. On the one hand, there is a wonderful sense of peace and tranquility, but also a sense of desolation and loneliness. These cottages have to some extent, withstood the test of time. One wonders, while looking at this, what history these walls hold within. If these walls could talk, what would they tell us about those who lived there? Were there happy families who lived there, or perhaps some hermit that wanted to be by himself? What was a typical day like for the people who dwelt here? You know, as arrogant as this might sound, (and I don't mean it that way), I used to not consider photography to be 'art'. It is very complex art. This is a wonderful example of how art can reach into our hearts and souls and cause us to think, feel, and wonder. Excellent!

More familar territory for me! Nice shot of wild land with ruin.
