Description

Delivered in March 08 this is the Island Constructor the first with the X bow. “Vessels with ULSTEIN X-BOW® can maintain higher speeds in high seas. Another advantage is that slamming in the foreship is eliminated. So far, experiences with vessels with ULSTEIN X-BOW® show that fuel consumption can be reduced with 4 till 7 % per year, depending on how the vessels are operated,

This looks like a drilling rig. Must have gotten a good deal and picked up a design discarded by more conservative mariners. It can always weathercock in a storm though the pipe may get twisted anchored in 5 miles of formations below the seafloor. Wonder how it could be used by SeaLaunch to get rockets onsite quickly.
