Description

Before we started our trip to the U.S. I found some pictures of a so called 'Toadstool Hoodoo' on the internet. And from that moment on 'the magic of the hoodoo' did its job. I simply had to visit this place!! Located between Kanab (Utah) and Page (Arizona), just a 15 minute walk away from Highway 89: that sounds easy! And it probably is easy, but not around 2 o'clock in the afternoon with temperatures above 100° Fahrenheit (around 40° Celsius). Unfortunately that was the time when we arrived at the Paria Rimrocks, the area in which this marvellous hoodoo is located. But you know...I just had to see this piece of rock! I hope you enjoy this shot as much as I do (it is worth the tons of sweat imho....) Thanks for all your nice comments on my last upload, "Extended Dream #12". Paul

Excellent capture of this singular hoodoo. In the western US where the sedimentary rocks are soft, and recent erosion has been virulent, you'll find groups of hoodoos, as at Bryce National Monument. I've done fieldwork afoot near lesser, unnamed hoodoos, and found them spooky. Kept turning my head the whole time. Breathed a sigh of relief on reaching my vehicle.
