Description

The 2008 election is less than a month away and I have no idea who I'm going to vote for or if I'm even going to vote at all... McCain seems bad to me. He's too much of a liberal/socialist for my liking, ie the bailout, but he does agree with two of my more important positions. Still, after having 8 years of an occasional conservative I don't like the way the republican party is moving to the left by choosing McCain. I'd prefer someone with better stances across the board than he has and someone who would campaign like he actually wants the presidency. The only other thing he's got going for him is a sense of character I don't see from Obama. If McCain is bad, Obama is even worse to me... If this guy was willing to do anything he could stop the votes of Michigan and Florida from counting in the primaries what other constitutional rights is he going to throw out the window when he gets elected. This guy is the truest form of liberal fascist (read Goldburg's book) and hangs out with extreme leftists who seek a level of control over our lives that I find frightening. To me Obama is like Senator Palpitine in the first prequal; he's very friendly and charsmatic but he wants to do the wrong things so you should avoid him like the plague. Another thing is he spent half his campaign liking McCain to Bush's economic policies yet aside from the tax cuts, Bush spends like a democrat and I don't think Obama is going to spend any less. Anyways I don't think either canidate knows or cares very much about the United States Constitution or the mostly hands off system of government we are supposed to have. A little government here and there is a nescessary evil but I think they both want what is more than necessary. To me they both lack the right political positions, judgement or any leadership. Look at the current economic crisis. Neither canidate has done a bloody thing to avert it. I don't see how if neither can lead a majority of 535 people to avoid a crisis before it begins how can either be qualified to lead 300 plus million people? It's like the levies before Katrina hit, everyone is looking for Big Brother to look out for them and Big Brother lets them down big time (note the people of NO had 30 years to raise the money and pay for better levies themselves, instead they waited on uncle sam). While this is going a bit off topic, I think all of congress and the president should resign and never hold a federal office again for letting this subprime thing to occur... especially when it was the government who created franny and freddie and helped push them into subprime lending. As I see it, the government (republican and democrat) started this mess by its actions and the government should be the first to take the blame. But instead they are throwing one trillion taxpayer dollars out the window while AIG goes on a $400,000 vacation and are too busy playing the blame game. I get the feeling that no matter who wins in November, the people of our Republic will end up losing, and lose big time. We'll get change, but change of the worse kind. It's like that one South Park episode. I'm thinking about voting for a 3rd party, but I live in a swing state so doing that could be a bad decision; my throw-away vote could help swing the election in the favor of the greater of two evils. Good Grief...

Nice commentary . I think a lot of people feel the same . I personally find it no longer acceptable to try and choose the less of 2 evils . Its still an evil . I liked Ron Paul , but the GOP wouldn't give him a chance . Which led me to look a Nader . Seems to me the man has a decent plan . Go to votenader.org and look at the (Issues ) section . If we don't start to give these third parties a few votes they will never have a chance . Then we are still stuck with the same 2 parties year after year after year . Einstein once said " The definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results " Look at some of the third parties and cast one of them a vote , at least send a message that neither of their chosen 2 are acceptable . It would be better than staying home and doing nothing . Oh , and nice render too .
