I'm a software engineer by day. I spend my time pushing ones and zeros around, which is not as easy as it sounds. They're slippery little devils.BIOI discovered fractals in the mid 80's with Fractint on what must have been a 25 MHz processor. Around 2001 I upgraded all the way from 400 MHz to 1.8 GHz, and thought about making fractals again. I discovered Fractal Explorer, and later XenoDream. These days I use mostly XD and MBF, with an occasional image from ChaosPro and Quasz, since I've always loved quaternions.
For my photography I use a Canon 30D. My primary lenses are a Canon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 EF DO IS USM and a Canon 24-105 f/4 L IS USM.

Showing Deb in the pictures really gives us a sense of the enormity of these redwoods. This is one of my favorite places to visit, too. This is a very nice photo of the trees.

Gorgeous shot! I love all the green and the trees ... Here in upstate NY, the leaves are turning, which is beautiful, but it means the "dead look" of winter is soon on it's way ... I love spring most of all, so this shot reminds me of that ... Beautiful capture as always :)

Beautiful shot...

Great capture Dennis. I have to agree using Deb for scale really does show their magestic giant size!

Great shot. Magnificent giants. I haven't been there for a long time.

When I see pictures of redwoods, I'm always fooled into thinking they're the same size as Doug Firs. My brain just can't wrap itself around the idea of trees that big, even though I've seen them in person, and I know better! Awesome shot. Thanks for including Deb as a reference!

Thanks for reminding me of this wonderful place. Wife and I and our little ones visited there in the early 1970s. Is this a grove in Marin County...Muir Woods maybe? Did you try a shot straight upwards? This yields some unusual perspective problems but is kind of neat...particularly for folks who have never been there. Bill

Now you ARE in my backyard--and boy, do I know what you mean about trying to portray how HUGE these trees are. Just walking among them is humbling.

Mother Nature has a way of putting us in our place...even subtly. A marvelous shot of the towering trees and the insignificance of our presence there.

Spectacular trees! I have never seen these :(, though I have seen their southern cousins - sequoias. They truly are majestic. Thanks for sharing...

Astonishing! I once spent some time in a grove of ancient hemlock trees. They were not nearly so tall, but their air of wisdom and serenity was incredible. I can only imagine how this must feel. Thanks :)
