Description

During the war that has come to be called "Humanity's First Interstellar War" no-one had yet produced a starship built exclusively as a warship. Thus, the belligerants were forced to improvise. One of the most effective in the first half was the improvised missile-carrier. Missiles were smart enough to be able to operate semi-autonomously, allowing the ships to stay back out of harm's way. Here a commonly-used cargo transport has let loose a volley of missiles. ----------- This is really my first try to portray the early stages of these missiles departing their carrier. It's partly successull, I think, but needs some work, I'm afraid. Ship and missiles were done in Bryce 6, planet and background are all Photoshop CS3. Thanks for taking a look.

Well realized! I love the trails that the missiles leave as they make their way from the mothership. Great sense of realism and drama in equal balance!

I like the missile design: unstreamlined and utilitarian for use in space.

Perhaps a bit of work on the missile trails, but what you have attempted to portray with your overall design is fantastic. There's a real sense of movement with the missiles and that background planet surfacing is super.

Very cool render and the POV rocks. Like you say a little more work on the trails is needed, perhaps 1 or 2 small explosions on the planet would help too.

Very nicely done...I would say maybe the trails need to taper closer to the launch point, and should be a little more transparent the further away they are from the missiles, but you've got great movement to them, and the concept is really good!

I like what you are working on here allot. Agree with the comments about the missle trails which would help a good deal. Hope to see some more on this.

Looks very good to me. You're just about there with the contrails, though I'm not sure what effect a zero-G vacuum environment would have on contrails... Love the missile modeling.
