Description

On one side of the river are the free lands, full of creatures and sentient beings, though many would not cross the river to the Zahn Kingdom. The watch towers were built to protect Zahn or at least give word of an attack. But over the years they have proved relatively useless since there are no armies or large hordes in the free lands. Small villages popped around the towers. Which are used mostly for protection against heavy storms from the ocean some twenty miles south. Or the occasional forage of Ziphs, which are about the size of a medium dog and kind of looks like a dog and cat mixture. Actually the Ziphs are quite friendly, but if you are not wearing full plate or at least some very heavy leather, your day could be ruined. Their hairs, looking soft as velvet, are sharp as razors, and they love to rub up against you just like a cat will. Hence, there's the rub, (also a title of a Wishbone Ash, album). They like running in packs of three to four animals and they are vegetarians. No one has seen one in five years or so. Some believe they are migratory and have moved their grazing ground to deep into the free lands. Ontar filled Rap in on the animals as they made their trip north to Ontar's home. Done in Bryce and tweaked in Photoshop. Towers: Beacon Towers, made by Staticon, in the freebies section here. I want to thank all who have stopped by to view my work. And thanks to all who left a comment on "Alone", love reading them. Thanks to all who have favored my work, I appreciate it. IT'S FRIDAY!!!! Party night is here! Break out the rum ye swabs! Well, at least me and Amber (my oldest daughter) will, Sherry and Bill my brother-in-law don't drink cause of all the drugs they take. Hope everyone has a good weekend. Keep safe and have fun.

This scene reminds me of the view from jet speeder approaching anti-aircraft towers in an old video game I used to play. Excellent render!

Great POV, composition, colours and story, Rick. It brought to mind the 'Dark Border' fantasy novels by Paul Edwin Zimmer, brother of the prolific Marion Zimmer Bradley, authoress of the powerful 'Darkover' series. Both gone on before us. Warm regards, on a crisp evening as Glasgow suffers the first frosts of spring ... ;o) , John.
