Description

Was thinking about how absence is supposed to make the heart fonder; and it can. However, it often transforms our most inimate loved ones into complete strangers, if the separation covers years and widely different experiences. If you don't think so, just ask the families of our military after they return from duty in the Near East. Here we have a loving husband just returned from three years on a trading journey across Europe. When he left, he was of modest circumstances but has returned a far more wealthy man than his wife expected to see. She is wondering just who this person is that she once knew--this now stranger that has replaced the husband she married. The little boy was just a baby, when his father left and he is definitely worried about this strange person and so his little hand seeks the reassurance of his mother's skirt. It's the same for the man. This world, this cottage, this family with which he was once so familiar now seems utterly different and confusing. Will they accept him after being gone so long? Will he fit back into their world, which is no longer his? This is my first Bryce render since I purchased Vue Pro Studio 6.0 some months ago. I still think Bryce is a much underrated program but I have to say that it is much easier to use Vue--at least, it seems so after an absence of four months. Still, I don't intend to abandon Bryce entirely. After all, I have quite a wonderful bunch of Bryce objects and characters which would be a real shame to waste. Thanks for your visits and comments, Jeremy CREDITS: Bryce 6.1. Grass terrain texture by Flink (Renerosity). Cottage is one of the "Four Ancient Cottages" by Max Nimos (DAZ). Very pretty render! I love the story with it! You are so right about having family separated.... My sister'shusband has been overseas three times since this war. She was pregnant with her fourth whenhe left the second time. Even six months can be hard on them. It's good to know that people still care about our service people.:)

Nicely done, Jeremy....the best thing about this picture is that the poses of the characters really express what you wrote about...the man's arms and hands are kind of uncomfortably on his hips, and her hands are, though clutched at her breast, also expressing a sense of anxiety...but best of all I think is the little boy and that the fact that he is in his fathers shadow....great work!

NIce intro Jeremy and a super render. I know what you mean about Vue and Bryce. Bryce needs updating now but DAZ are concentrating on Carrara too much for that - so maybe one day. Bryce is still a wonderful program to use, and similar to Vue in many ways, but it is easier to get realistic renders in Vue. Bryce requires a lot more tweaking.

Very nice scene. See, it is possible to do decent landscaping in Bryce too, with enough effort. Ditto on the other comments above, the posing of the scene and the expressions are excellent.

I am really impressed by these kinds of scenes that you do in Bryce. The level of realism and detail you put into them is very impressive. Good story to go with it, too.
