Description

A while back, I committed myself, or at least I should have committed myself, (all how you look at it I suppose) to the marvelous, if not insane world of 3D rendering. I did this by Downloading AND installing DAZ on my computer! I got all the freebie stuff they offered and then I decided to teach myself how to do all this without the use of the manual.... you can guess where that went... Aiko and Victoria 3 and Victoria 4 are still complaining about how I abused them... As soon as I can afford it, they will be getting maid's outfits and they will be cleaning my hard-drive all 190gigs worth. After much weed and ivy pulling I was able to afford to download THE GIRL! My first attempt with her, landed her in the current contest for obvious reasons, trust me, it's not a pretty sight. I heard Aiko and the two Vickies laughing their butts off on that fiasco...They'll get theirs Just wait Anyhow the GIRL was a good sport about the whole deal and agreed to pose for me once more. I said okay and we got her posed, dressed, put hair on her head, and got a prop to 'fill the scene'! She started complaining about how tight the dress was, the free heart dress for doing the survey, and that the sensual lighting was glaring in her eyes and that I put that nice chair so far away from her that it was in the shadows. I gently reminded her that she could possibly join the other three in computer maintenance and she quickly shut up and went back to posing. the only post work that was done was the logo in the lower left corner. Now for the absolutely weird part: I was not suppose to be able to do this at all! My computer is very old, not even close to the minimum requirements to do any rendering what-so-ever! Total time to do this render from the time I pushed the render button until it was done: 6 minutes 29 seconds and 4 minutes of that was shadow mapping the sensual lighting! If you happen to recognise the outline of the chair I used please tell me who you are who made it. The light set is the Sexy shader by whom I can't remember, it's in my notes somewhere around here. If you recognise that, please SiteMail me and let me know who you are so I can credit you While this is in-fact my second render posted, it is my first render posted to the general gallery that being said: I'd like to introduce to you: the GIRL Thank you very much And to those who were kind enough to post in their uploads the issues and statements that went into their production I especially thank you! you helped me with this one even though you didn't know it. I read very carefully all your comments about the issues of lighting, posing and all other things related to rendering. Without your help, I think I would still be beating my head against the Monitor. I also want to thank Iceshark39 for her invaluable help in answering some basic questions that led me to this point. I dedicate this image to all of you at Renderosity! Thank you all! Almost forgot one other person: Three_grrr who helped me with some important issues about content. Thanks Rita!

FANTASTIC work for a first render, Mike!!! I wish mine had been HALF as good! (heck, I didn't even know what lighting WAS in DAZ until later!! But that's our little secret, okay?) Great job and looking forward to more!

Excellent work for a first render! The Girl looks lovely (and now I'm wishing I had gotten that dress instead of the hair from the survey! Ah well, live and learn!) Looking forward to more renders.

This is funny.. you should search for a DAZ Scool, I could give you the adress for one, but it´s all in German... If you need, I could give you some good sides with great freebies. But for your first Attempt, its well done.

This is a good start. Way ahead of my first renders some years ago. You will sure get the grip! Sorry I can't help you much, I haven't a clue of DAZ|S as it is today (and hadn't much clue of the earlier versions anyway ;-)

Mike, my friend... this is a great start. I also started from scratch with poser 4 several years ago, still use it exclusively... taught myself to render and use all I could within the system.. then got photoshop7 and started doing the postwork, also self-taught.. it can be done, never fear. It just takes time and patience. play with it until you start to understand it, it is most satisfying when it all starts to make sense. You should see some of my first stuff, LOL... You did great... keep them coming, Vicky and Aiko are very forgiving... trust me, I know. Seth

Congratulations Mike ;) It's great to see you upload this - I'm well impressed because I know this was a huge step into the unknown! It's impressive for a FIRST! Blimey - it took me ages until I had the courage to mess about with lighting. Looking forward to more! :) Let me know if I can help - I'm no expert but a year hanging around Rederosity has probably taught me 75% of what I now know about DAZ - great people on here so I dig the general dedication.

I remember my first Poser render. I decided afterward to bury it...and the computer along with it. Excellent!
