Description

Thought of giving this the title of, "Don't Look Directly At The Sun", but don't think it will do any harm here. The most unique thing to me while taking photos on this Long Island beach was the sound of rolling rocks. It only happens near high tide but as little (or big) waves break on the shoreline, the water rushes over the round rocks in the foreground and further up the beach...then quickly receeds. In that process, the rocks roll and the sound is a muffled, low rumble, rumble unlike anything I've ever heard at any beach before. Just one of those special treats we get as early morning photographers. Thanks for your comments. I enjoy them all. Bill

I know i've said it before but all that's missing is the sound and the taste of sea air. If this were my early morning view the alarm would be set for 3am. Thanks for posting this Bill-it's superb in every aspect.

Oh I know the sound, we have a short beach called Tsitsikamma where it sounds like trains shunting. Lovely color and mood.

Living in Ohio I don't get to see a beach very often but my recent stay in California I'll never forget...I don't think I've ever heard the sound in which you speak but the photo is beautiful...

Beautiful! Would have been even better if the sun was just off to one side. But it's a good effort.

Perfect! You didn't have to describe the sound, as soon as I saw the scene I'm telling you, I could hear it! great light Bill.

A scene like this makes you want to grab a lounge chair, mug of coffee, your camera, and of course, Burt's girl friend, Mandy, go sit at waters edge and wait for the changing light. Of course with the muffled sound of the rolling rocks and the waves hitting the beach, you might just sleep through some good shots. Great shot Mr. Bill.. Skipper62 Broke wing fighter jock

I have a special liking for sunrise / sunset, you could plant a tripod and take the same photo at the same time every day and no 2 would be the same and every one would be special. This is a FAV. Thanks Bill.
