Description

These Daisies were planted by me in my flower bed. I am so happy they actually grew and bloomed! They are very special to me because Piet sent these seeds all the way from So. Africa so that I could see if they would bloom here. Only these were brave enough to give it a go. They might have felt a bit out of place in Minnesota, such a NON-tropical climate I have! From the minute they popped up I have been coaxing them to stretch and spread and "get out more" much the way you might for a teen-aged foreign exchange student! It's tough being a foster mom/horticulturist! Next year I hope to see the other colors and I will start them earlier indoors. Thanks Piet!

Those are the best looking African daisies! I love those petals. So different from the seed packets I pick up at the store! gorgeous shot!

Beautiful capture of these white flowers! It's hard to catch the white, unless it is an overcast sky.

Those are so beautiful, but they don't like the climate here so much. Too cold I guess, or too wet.Even if the ones I have had were boughts as plants from a nursery.

Fabulous~ I love African Daisies and these are just gorgeous. (I just had to pull mine up today~ usually they stay alive around here, but I think they were choked out and gave up the ghost).

Terrific ethereal macro of the daisies and their undulating petals, which remind me of those little wooden sticks we used when eating ice cream out of a cup way back when, Jodie!

LOL, you did well Jodie, I am amazed that they blossomed at all, taking into account your short summers. Now please don't return the favor and send me snow. :D Lovely sun filled capture.

you've captured the wonderful finger-like feel of the petals (I had a girlfriend years back who grew these, and I loved the undulating petals!)—they really look like little fingers. And the blackberry-like stamens are captured front and simple. You got the essential African daisy in a simple solo shot, with real dignity; and I like how you suspended it over a sea background greens. Beautiful, Jodie; and I love Piet's comment about not sending "snow". JK: Send snow!. What are friends for! Why should only Minnesotans have to suffer? (Boy are those daisies in for a shock!) Lovely composition too. I love this shot.

Aw.... it's so wonderful that you've uploaded this. What a lovely thank you to Piet, and LOL at him saying not to send him any snow in return. Great job on the shot and for successfully 'fostering' the growth these little foreign beauties. Well done, Jodie! -M :^)
