Description

I have it on good authority that these wheels were used in fields that tended to get muddy. Personally I think they look like something a gladiator would use on his chariot when trying to make mincemeat of another gladiator... : ) Thanks for having a look

Great shot! Love the full sunlight on this old wheel. I have a friend who's a tractor fanatic, I'll make sure he sees this.

You don't see too many of these guys around. Definitely not to be used on pavement. Excellent find and capture.

I will tell you something else on good authority as well, the modern tractors and JCB's have water in the rear wheels to give them weight and better traction when pushing or pulling equipment. The rear wheels are filled to about 75% with water then inflated to around 12psi(12lb per square inch). I like to learn something new every day here on RR, today I teach something new, to some of you anyhow. (information from me, qualification a CTGI(City and Guilds of London Institute) in tyre fitting 1980)). Superb clarity and detail in the traction whell of this old tractor, it's a shame it has been left to rot like this, I would give it pride of place in my front garden, give it some antirust treatment and spray it up with a nice paint job. Even old tractors have a beauty of their own. Superb capture, thanks for sharing. Bravo!!!!!

Great capture and how clear it is to be able to look at the elements to see the details. No doubt the wheels performed well.
