Description

The other day a friend of mine drove me out to the cemetery so I could take pictures. (Good guy, huh?) One of the local old-time families in these parts are the Ruckers. They had this tomb build in 1907, and it cost $30,000 to build. It's a local landmark, as I'm sure you can imagine! There's even a rock band in these parts called "Rucker's Tomb," and I understand the tomb had a part in a movie once. For a sense of scale ... the door is seven feet tall and four feet wide. There are 22 crypts in the pyramid Evergreen Cemetery is a cool place, and I had a great time!

My goodness, until I read your comments I this this was the infamous Rudd Rucker! Dang, guess I'll just have to keep searching for his final resting place. LOL

Very nice composition on this, and the technical stuff is great, too. I can't say I've ever shot in a cemetery, but it's an interesting idea.

Interesting shot and info. I have taken a few shots around our local cemetery looking for names in local history but never seen anything so elaborate as this!

By my calculations this makes the pyramid 21 and a half feet tall, only a mini compared with Egypt. I wonder why the mesh grating half way up, maybe to freshen the air inside, I can't imagine it being a nice smell in there. I wonder why they made it so easy to climb up there, then again they didn't have graffiti artists in 1907 and grave yards were considered sacred. Superb capture Tara, I can see why it is a local landmark, I say this quite often but I don't mind repeating myself in this case. I love RR, its one big family and you learn something new every day. Thanks for sharing. Bravo!!!!!
