Description

Memories of the late 70s when I was working in Tanzania are still fresh. We spent weekends outside Dar-es-Salaam on the beach of the Bahari Beach Hotel. Most of the time the weather was fair....The hotel resembling a traditional thatched hut burned down in the 90s. This picture was drawn about fifteen years ago abd then lost together with all the data on the hard drive. Luckily, a friend saved a low-resolution copy. Manuscripts do not burn. How about digital graphical images? Thans a lot for commenting and viewing the Machine. Nikolay

Amazing how photographic it feels, showing how you meld several visual languages so organically. As a drawing, it's really quite simple, a few planes repeated, a few areas of hues; but the details are quite expressive. Your middle-blues are reflective and simple, your deep green-blues (the upper sky) deep-feeling, and the grayish-blues of the lower half perfect for a rainy day. It also has delicate simple planes: simple bands across the piece, the simple 'slice' of what appears to be rain; and with your sparse lights (including the lighter blues, all part of the same palette), it's a study in simplicity of expression, very much like your simpler photographs. It feels a bit like a photo, watercolor, acrylics and print-making. A touching, expressive miniature. It's so nice to see your 2d work...
